First Thursday: Cinco de Mayo

Where/When: Pleasantville Road Business District in Briarcliff Manor on Thursday, May 2 from 5 to 8 p.m.

Why go: First Thursday is back with a Cinco de Mayo theme on Thursday. Businesses along the Pleasantville Road strip will be participating in a chili cook-off. Several businesses will be offering discounts and more.

JCC Children's Carnival

Where/When: Rosenthal Jewish Community Center of Northern Westchester on Sunday, May 5 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Why go: The Pleasantville JCC is bringing in games, rides, a zip line, rock climbing mountain and more for a day of fun. Click here to view a schedule of events. Proceeds benefit the JCC's programs for children with special needs.

Pricing: Free entry; $20 for 25 tickets, $50 for 65 tickets

Hudson River Potters Show and Sale

Where/When: Briarcliff Congregational Church on Friday, May 3 from 6 to 9 p.m.; Saturday, May 4 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, May 5 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Why go: Artists from Hudson River Potters will be displaying and selling their work during the annual spring show this weekend. Pick up original items ranging from vases to teapots and birdhouses.

Beyond Words: A Photography Exhibit

Where/When: Mount Pleasant Public Library on Saturday, May 4 from 1 to 3 p.m.

Why go: The opening exhibit for Edward W. Morgan's "Beyond Words" exhibit is Saturday. Morgan, who suffers from aphasia as a result of a stroke, has found a way to communicate through his photography. The exhibit will be on display at the library through May 29. Family Movie Night

Where/When: Briarcliff Manor Public Library on Friday, May 3 at 7 p.m.

Why go: The library welcomes families to a screening of the PG-rated Rise of the Guardians on Friday. Bring your own snacks.
