16-Year-Old Dies In Calverton Crash: Police
His car hit a tree and he died on Saturday night, police say.
CALVERTON, NY — A 16-year-old died in a single-car crash in Calverton Saturday night, police said.
According to Riverhead Town police, the crash took place at 9:22 p.m. on Sound Avenue, when the car, a maroon Honda Civic traveling east near Horton Avenue, struck a tree, police said. The teen was transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased, police said.
The Riverhead Police Department's detective squad, with assistance from the New York State Police Department's accident reconstruction team, is continuing the investigation, police said.
