2 Injured After LIRR Train Strikes Car In Suffolk: MTA
About 30 to 40 passengers were onboard the train at the time of the crash, the MTA LIRR says.

LONG ISLAND, NY — Two people were injured after their vehicle was struck by a Long Island Rail Road train Tuesday afternoon, officials said.
According to an MTAPD spokesperson, at about 12:45 p.m., the 12:03 p.m. eastbound train from Ronkonkoma to Greenport struck a vehicle on the tracks at the Wading River Road crossing, east of the Yaphank station.
About 30 to 40 passengers were onboard the train, but there were no injuries reported on the train, the MTAPD said.

There were two passengers in the vehicle, and "both were transported alive to Stony Brook University Hospital by local EMS," the MTAPD said.
The train proceeded east to Riverhead with passengers at about 2:15 p.m., the MTAPD said. The train terminated at Riverhead and any passengers looking for service to Greenport were accommodated by substitute bus service, officials said.
