Monday it was announced East End Arts will hold the 18th Annual Community Mosaic Street Painting Festival on Sunday, May 25, 2014, from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. in downtown Riverhead.
Dating back to 16th Century Italy known as “I Madonnari”--where street painters
created works of art in front of cathedrals to pay homage to the Virgin Mary.
The painters create images ranging from pop culture to historical figures, portraits and landscapes to scenes of dramatic comedy and tragedy.
This annual fun-for-the-whole-family festival a fine arts & crafts fair featuring local artists and artisans, live music on the Riverhead Town Show Mobile, face painting for children, a drum circle, food trucks, and various arts, crafts, dance, and music activities for the whole family.
