LONG ISLAND, NY — A 1972 Jeep for sale on eBay — with the bidding standing at $7,600 as of Tuesday afternoon — definitely belonged to accused Gilgo Beach killer Rex Heuermann, an attorney for Heuermann's ex-wife Asa Ellerup told Patch.

The listing, according to Ellerup's attorney Robert Macedonio, was being handled "privately," with all proceeds going to Ellerup. He added that the Jeep was the only item from the Heuermann home currently listed on the auction site.

According to the seller in the item's listing: "This 1972 Jeep AMC is a vintage vehicle with a unique model design and impeccable make. With a mileage of 522,565, this Jeep is an ideal choice for collectors or individuals looking for a classic or military style. The 1972 Jeep offers a nostalgic experience and is sure to turn heads on the road with its cool design and, if you are a true crime buff, this Jeep and trailer have quite a history."

The owner was "none other" than Heuermann, the listing said, adding that the home where Heuermann lived with Ellerup and their children is featured on the Peacock series, "The Gilgo Beach Killer — House of Secrets."

According to the listing: "Being sold together with the trailer, the Jeep comes with a hard top and soft top, along with all hard and soft doors. There are extra parts stored in the trailer in boxes. Jeep runs good and registration is ready to transfer. Don't be outbid on this one!"

Macedonio said he "personally went" to the jail "and had the registration signed by Rex." When asked how Heuermann was faring behind bars, Macedonio said, "He seemed to be doing fine."

To date, Heuermann stands charged in seven murders, officials said: In December, Heuermann was charged with the death of a seventh victim, Valerie Mack. In June, Heuermann was slapped with new second-degree murder charges in the deaths of two additional women, Jessica Taylor and Sandra Costilla.

In July 2023, Heuermann was indicted on three counts of first-degree murder charges and three counts of second-degree murder charges in the deaths of sex workers Melissa Barthelemy, Megan Waterman and Amber Costello, whose remains were found along Ocean Parkway in 2010.

Heuermann was also charged with the murder of a fourth woman, Maureen Brainard-Barnes. New DNA evidence helped connect Heuermann to all four of the deaths, said Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney, who is prosecuting the case.

A total of 11 sets of remains were found in the Gilgo Beach murders, which rocked Long Island. The remains included that of a toddler and an Asian male.

Heuermann has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
