Bishop seeks his sixth term, running in New York's slightly altered First Congressional District.

Bio: Tim Bishop, 62, has represented the First Congressional District since 2001. He is a 12th generation Southampton resident and Southampton High School graduate who, prior to serving in Congress, worked at Southampton College for nearly three decades, ending his tenure as the college's provost.

Bishop serves on the House of Representatives' Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, as well as the Education and Workforce Committee. He is the ranking member on the Subcommittee on Water Resources and Environment.

The five-term incumbent narrowly defeated first-time candidate Randy Altschuler in 2010 by a slim 593 votes, after nearly 200,000 ballots were cast. 

He is married, has two grown children, and one grandchild.

Eduction: Bishop earned his Bachelor's degree in history from the College of the Holy Cross, and later a Master's Degree in public administration from Long Island University.
