BAITING HOLLOW, NY — The owner of a popular Baiting Hollow eatery will soon be bidding adieu.

Chris Patti, owner and operator of the Sound Avenue Bistro, posted a message on social media to patrons this week; the restaurant's last day will be December 31, he said.

"It was a lifelong goal of mine to own and operate a restaurant on the East End," Patti said. "When we first opened, I was a bit apprehensive." The restaurant, he explained, was opening on the site of a former Lobster Roll location.

But his vision, Patti said, soon flourished, creating a new favorite go-to for locals and visitors alike.

"Over the past six years, The Bistro has become incredibly successful," he said. "This has been an extraordinary journey full of new friendships along with an amazing sense of community. The Bistro has become 'a place where everybody knows your name' and for that, I am so thankful. Our patrons have stood by us through thick and thin, and for that I am incredibly grateful."

The reason the business is shuttering, Patti said, has to do with the building's landlord, who has "plans of his own."

He announced the closure of the business with "deep sadness" and thanked his entire staff for their "unwavering strength, determination, and loyalty" over the past six years. "They have made Sound Avenue Bistro a special place for so many people, and for that, I am immensely appreciative," Patti said.

He thanked all for helping him to achieve his lifelong goal. "It has been a huge accomplishment and an extraordinary experience."
