Golf Tourney Draws Celebs to Area
A golf tournament organized by NBA Hall of Famer Bill Russell at Friar's Head Golf Course was held over the weekend.

A golf tournament at the exclusive golf course on Sound Avenue over the weekend brought celebrities out to the area, as the tournament hosted by 11-time NBA Champion Bill Russell came to town for the second year in a row.
The Mentors Champions Golf Challenge - which benefits the National Mentoring Partnership - was won by a foursome led by former National Football League wideout Steve Largent. Other former athletes played in the tournament, including Jim Brown, Clyde Drexler, Charles Barkley, and Alonzo Mourning.
Actor Samuel L. Jackson was also on hand, though according to an article in the Riverhead News-Review, Russell was unable attend due to an illness.
