His supplier was also found with a loaded and operable .40-caliber semi-automatic pistol, cocaine, and digital scales, DA says.

RIVERHEAD, NY — A former Riverhead resident was sentenced to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to operating as a major drug trafficker, Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney said.
According to Tierney, Carlos Reyes-Redrovan, 32, now of Philadelphia, was sentenced after pleading guilty in July. His supplier and co-defendant Akim Slater, 46, of Ronkonkoma, was sentenced to 8 years in prison after pleading guilty in June to first-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and related charges, Tierney said.
According to court documents and the defendant’s admissions during his guilty plea allocutions, in August 2023, Reyes-Redrovan, then a resident of Riverhead, approached off-duty undercover officers at a Suffolk County bar to offer them a sample of cocaine that he wanted to sell and then provided them with his cellular phone number, the DA said.

Following that initial exchange, on 15 different occasions between August 2023 to March 2024, Reyes-Redrovan sold undercover officers more than 37 ounces of cocaine, Tierney said.
Additionally, on several dates between December 2023 and March 2024, Reyes-Redrovan sold undercover officers a total of about 11 ounces of heroin in exchange for cash, the DA said. On June 20, 2024, Reyes-Redrovan was arrested after he entered an undercover officer’s car and sold him 300 grams of heroin for $10,000, the DA said.

Through a court-authorized eavesdropping warrant that intercepted and recorded Reyes-Redrovan’s phone calls, investigators identified co-defendant Slater as his cocaine supplier, Tierney said. A search of Slater’s residence led to the discovery of a loaded and operable .40-caliber semi-automatic pistol, cocaine, and digital scales, the DA said.
On July 2, 2024, Slater was arrested and taken into custody, the DA said. On June 23, 2025, Slater pleaded guilty before Judge Philip Goglas to first-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, a Class A felony, and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a Class C felony, Tierney said.
On September 3, 2025, Slater was sentenced to 8 years in prison, followed by 5 years post-release supervision; he was represented by Robert Macedonio, who did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
On July 24, 2025, Reyes-Redrovan pleaded guilty before Judge Goglas to operating as a major drug trafficker and first-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, both Class A felonies, Tierney said.
On September 3, Reyes-Redrovan was sentenced to 10 years in prison, followed by 5 years post release supervision, the DA said. He was represented by Ian Fitzgerald, who was not immediately available for comment.
"Drug trafficking, especially when coupled with illegal firearms, is a deadly threat to public safety," said Tierney. "Wherever dangerous drugs are being sold in our county, the Suffolk County law enforcement community will act to hold those responsible."
