Man Charged With Assault After Cutting Someone With Knife In Riverhead: Police
He's facing felony charges, police say.
RIVERHEAD, NY — A Flanders man was arrested Tuesday after assaulting someone with a knife in Riverhead, police said.
According to Riverhead Town police, the incident took place at 3:19 p.m. on Osborn Avenue. A 911 call came in from a male who said he'd been cut by a man armed with a knife. Officers responded and found the male, who appeared to have a minor injury on his arm, police said.
He provided a description of the person who'd cut him and, after canvassing the area, patrol officers located the man, police said. Eduar Montes Fuentes, 22, was arrested and charged with second-degree assault, a Class D felony; third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a Class D felony; false personation, a Class B misdemeanor; and second-degree harassment, a violation, police said.

He was transported to Riverhead Town police headquarters, where he was processed and held for morning arraignment, police said.
The male who'd been assaulted was treated at the scene by Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps for non-life threatening injuries and later transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center for further medical treatment, police said.
