Would You Attend More Free Fishing Clinics?

According to an article on Newsday, officials with the Department of Environmental Conservation are considering upping the number of free fishing clinics in an effort to boost interest, which reportedly generates about $1.8 million statewide annually and supports 70,000 jobs.

The article quotes South Fork Assemblyman Fred Thiele, I-Sag Harbor, as saying, "This is a way of promoting one of the key industries on the East End. This is the first time in a long time we have put this kind of focus on recreational fishing."

Currently there are four free fishing clinics on Long Island each year, which range in topics from lakeside fishing to crab fishing.
