Here are the top stories today in Riverhead:

1. The Suffolk County Department of Social Services will be relocating its Riverhead office to 605 Old Country Road in Riverhead: the former Kmart space. The county department will move into a part of the current space in spring 2023, according to the property’s owner. (Subscription: Newsday)
2. According to Southampton Town Police, a bicyclist was hit in Flanders Thursday night, at 9:02 p.m. on Route 105 and Flanders Road. Patrol officers responded and found Richard Valentino, 32, conscious and alert, police said. Amanda Reyes, 19, was heading home from work and had the green light when Valentino crossed into the roadway on his bike, police said. No charges were filed, police said. (Patch)
3. Suit seeks to stop Wainscott excavation for South Fork wind project. The subject of this turmoil isn’t even the wind turbines themselves, a 15-strong cluster called South Fork wind farm that would sit about 35 miles off Montauk, the extreme eastern end of New York’s Long Island. The prospect of this underground extension cable, which would help provide power to about 70,000 Long Island homes, has enraged Wainscott's property owners. (Subscription: Newsday)
4. Brookhaven Town officials honored a group of Rocky Point High School technology class students, who created a prosthetic hand for a 6-year-old Indonesian boy born with no fingers on his right hand. (Patch)
