  1. Free COVID-19 Test Kit Drive! According to Riverhead Town Supervisor Yvette Aguiar, Suffolk County has provided the supervisor's office with 1,200 rapid test kits for distribution to the Riverhead community at no cost. Each kit consists of two tests. Distribution will take place on Tuesday, Feb. 22, from noon to 4 p.m. at the Riverhead Town Hall reception desk, located at 200 Howell Ave. in Riverhead, and the Aquebogue Senior Center, located at 60 Shade Tree Lane in Aquebogue.   2. A new day dawned in downtown Riverhead as the owner of the popular Lucharitos taquerias opened the doors to Luchacubano, a sandwicheria and rum bar on East Main Street Friday.
    Luchacubano, located at 87 East Main Street
    — at the site of Sunny's Riverhead Diner & Grill, which opened in 1932 and closed due to the pandemic — will serve up roast pork and plantains, coffee and mojitos, and be infused with "Miami vibes," owner Marc LaMaina said. (Riverhead Patch)
  3. No Fentanyl, Narcotics Involved In Riverhead School ODs: Police: Two recent suspected overdoses at Riverhead High School did not involve fentanyl, illicit narcotics, or alcohol, police said. An investigation into a third suspected overdose at Riverhead High School on February 14 involving a student ingesting a THC chocolate candy bar is still ongoing but it has been determined that fentanyl was not a factor in the student's illness, police said.   4. Police seek teen missing from Timothy Hill Children’s Ranch in Riverhead. Aaron Beatty, 17, 5 feet, 9 inches tall, 140 lbs., brown eyes, straight brown hair. He may be in the Mastic area. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 631-727-4500. (Riverhead Patch)
  5. Riverhead Town has established two separate grant funds with federal American Recovery Plan Act money to assist certain local businesses and nonprofits impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, reported RiverheadLOCAL. The businesses and nonprofits that serve para-abled adults in the Riverhead community are eligible for a $100,000 fund to support them. (RiverheadLOCAL)
