Here are the top stories today in Riverhead:

  1. The Riverhead Police charged three men with burglary after they allegedly stole guns, ammunition, apparel and accessories from 680 Elton St., where a firearm range and a gun shop is proposed. (Patch)
  2. The owner of JJ Armory, Joseph Oliver, had the permits and thought they were close to sign-off from town officials to open his gun store in downtown Riverhead. But then the store was burglarized, now the town is considering a law that would bar a "retail gun stores in its downtown." (News 12 Brooklyn)
  3. The East End is getting a makeover in women's health at the Northwell Health’s Peconic Bay Medical Center. The project will take a few years to be realized, it will "involve a revamp of the women’s health department including general OB/GYN services, a fertility program, maternal fetal medicine programs, urogynecology and breast medicine."   4. On Monday, June 6, the Riverhead Middle School at 600 Harrison Ave. received a terror threat from a student. This was the third time this week the LI school district has had to deal with student "terror threats." The Riverhead Police were notified; the child was removed from class and his parents are working with police on the investigation. (Daily Voice)
  5. Riverhead town officials unveiled improvements to two of its parks. The Veterans Memorial Park in Calverton has new pickleball courts and at Police Officer’s Memorial Park in Wading River, the basketball and tennis courts have been renovated. (RiverheadLOCAL via Instagram)
