1. Charles H. Tyler, a 51-year-old homeless man was arrested after he told authorities he had been robbed at knifepoint in the parking lot of the Suffolk County Supreme Court facility in Riverhead — then admitted he'd lied, police said. After an extensive investigation it was determined that Tyler lied in his original statement, police said. (Riverhead Patch)
2. In a press release, police identified Patzan-Xiquin, a native of Guatemala, as the man who was found dead last week in a wooded area south of Pulaski Street. Anyone with information regarding Patzan-Xiquin’s is asked to contact the Riverhead Police Department at 631-727-4500. All calls will be kept confidential, police said. (Riverhead Patch)
3. A Board of Health meeting is scheduled for Feb. 16, the meeting will be held in person and via videoconferencing (via Zoom). Suffolk County Department of Health Services Health Admin Board Room, 3500 Sunrise Highway, Great River. (Press Release Desk)
4. A woman was followed from Walt Whitman Shops to her Deer Park home, then robbed of her newly purchased $3,100 Louis Vuitton pocketbook. Suffolk County police say the woman saw a woman filming her. Authorities say when she arrived at home, a moment later, a man was seen exiting a gold Honda Odyssey from the passenger side. He smashed the rear window of her vehicle, removed the purse, and was then picked up by the driver of the Honda. Anyone with information about these incidents can contact Suffolk County Crime Stoppers to submit an anonymous tip by calling 1-800-220-TIPS. (Daily Voice)
