- Margarito Romero Quinteros, 53, of Riverhead, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated and possession of a loaded gun after a head-on crash left five injured in Riverhead Sunday night, police said. According to the Riverhead Police Department, the two-car crash took place on Sound Avenue, east of Twomey Avenue at 7:50 p.m. Quinteros crossed over the double yellow line, resulting in a collision with a vehicle, with five passengers, traveling westbound, police said. - Sen. Chuck Schumer notified Riverhead officials that he had secured the $3.5 million needed to provide clean water to 60 homes in Manorville within in the Town of Riverhead, officials announced Monday. (Subscription: Riverhead News Review)
- There is a new family attraction at the Long Island Aquarium! The Eye Opener is a giant treehouse complete with rope bridges, a slide and a 62-step stairway that leads to the top, where you can enjoy a lovely view of the Peconic River. “It’s a nice little workout, whether you’re on the bridges or climbing to the top of it,” said Darlene Puntillo, marketing director for the aquarium.
