- A 13 year old is missing from Wading River. According to Riverhead Town Police, Maria Mete is white, 5-feet, 1-inch, and weights 140 lbs.; she has a light complexion, black-and-blonde hair, and was last seen wearing a white jacket, a black Nike sweatshirt, black sneakers, and a multi-colored backpack, police said. If you know of her whereabouts, contact the Riverhead Police Department at 631-727-4500. (Riverhead Patch)
- A Riverhead man was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs after a crash on Flanders Road Tuesday afternoon, police said. According to Southampton Town Police, a call came in about a crash at 3:15 p.m.; Daniel Schilpp, 34, was arrested and charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, a felony, due to a prior conviction, police said. - Someone tried to send an Amazon package with a meat cleaver inside to an inmate at the Suffolk County Correctional facility in Riverhead last week, Suffolk County Sheriff Errol Toulon said. Suffolk County Sheriff's Office correction officers intercepted the package and, upon inspection, found that the meat cleaver was among the contents of the package, Toulon said. The meat cleaver was confiscated, and any other allowable items were delivered to the inmate, Toulon said. (Riverhead Patch)
- Two women have been arrested and charged with assaulting a Riverhead 7-Eleven employee in November, police said. According to Riverhead Town Police, Angie Vanegas, 19, and Iona Weston, 20, were arrested following an extensive investigation into an assault that occurred on Nov. 13, 2021, at the 7-Eleven on Old Country Road. During that incident, a male employee was confronted by the two females, punched him, and stabbed in the leg, police said. (Riverhead Patch)
