2. Tracy and Alex Sutton have moved in at Orient Inn and launched a soft opening of the historic lodgings. Aside from an air conditioned room, guests will have access to common spaces such as the wraparound porch, the dining room, a fire pit and a brick patio with tables in the yard of this 116 year-old house. Guests may call the inn to book a room. The Suttons also have plans to launch an online reservation system. (Northforker)
3. Father-son duo set to open Smoke Shack BBQ in Mastic Beach this spring. "The duo started their Smoke Shack BBQ food truck in 2016 and served up pulled pork sandwiches and their fully-loaded porky mountain fries at state fairs. Now, they aim to serve nana Jennette Cantone’s barbecue sauce every day in a brick-and-mortar restaurant," wrote Greater Moriches. (GreaterMoriches)
4. Steven Ortner's father, Clayton Ortner, said the couple were heroic in their efforts to save their baby during their house fire in East Setauket that took Lisa's life. "It was the teamwork of Steven and Lisa together that got that baby out," he said.
