  1. The Anti-Litter Advisory committee of Riverhead designated Saturday, April 23 for its spring cleanup event in honor of Earth Day. Deborah Wetzel, chairperson of the anti-litter committee, said the spring cleanup last April saw over 200 volunteers who cleaned up more than 35 streets, parks and beaches within the town.   2. Riverhead's Suffolk Theater is planning a benefit concert for aid agencies helping victims of Russia’s ongoing war with Ukraine. The concert will benefit the efforts of UNICEF, Doctors Without Borders and the United Ukrainian American Relief Committee, and will be held on Sunday, March 27 at 6 p.m. Tickets are $50 and are available online at SuffolkTheater.com or over the phone at 631-727-4343. One hundred percent of the proceeds will go directly to the three organizations providing relief efforts for the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Ukraine. (East End Beacon)
  3. The former Caboose Pub on Railroad Avenue could be transformed into a 40-seat, sit-down restaurant, under a proposal presented to the Riverhead Town Board at Thursday’s Town Board session. (Subscription: Riverhead News Review)
  4. On Saturday, March 12, at the Staller Center for the Arts, Stony Brook University presented an honorary doctorate in music to the world-renowned cellist Yo-Yo Ma. Stony Brook University President Maurie McInnis presided over the degree granting ceremony and described how Ma’s music “has been the soundtrack to our lives and our collective experience in a way that is utterly unique.” (Stony Brook News)

The Great South Bay Music Festival returns to Shorefront Park in Patchogue from July 7 to 10 with more than 55 bands — including half from Long Island — set to perform across three stages.
