- Two students overdosing at Riverhead High School were saved with Narcan this week, officials said. A representative from the Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps told Patch that the teens were overdosing on "some sort of opiate," but could not confirm what drug they had taken. On Thursday, Riverhead High School Principal Sean O'Hara sent a message to Riverhead High School families. "It has come to the district's attention that a potentially harmful, ingestible substance may be circulating throughout our school community and accessible to students," O'Hara wrote. - The Riverhead town board has chosen a master developer for a project that will transform the area surrounding the railroad station, long blighted, to make way for apartments, commercial space, and parking. Following a year-long review process that began with the issuance of request for qualifications in March, 2021, the Riverhead town board chose RXR and Georgica Green Ventures as master developer to foster the development of a transportation-oriented development, or TOD, project, town officials said. - The Suffolk County Department of Health Services' Division of Environmental Quality will hold its regular monthly Board of Review Hearing on Thursday, Feb. 17. Only department representatives, applicants, applicant representatives, and formally invited parties will be able to speak during the hearing. - A driver who crashed head-on into a Riverhead school bus Thursday afternoon has died, police said. According to Riverhead Town Police, at 4:55 p.m., a report came in about an "erratic driver" in a silver Jeep Grand Cherokee who crossed over the double yellow line into eastbound traffic and hit the bus, police said. Responding Riverhead Town Police determined that the owner of the Jeep, John A.
