- Riverhead farmers market to open year-round. "The market, which moved to new space in the former Homeside Florist building last fall, will be open from May through October on Wednesdays and Fridays, beginning May 4," said Kate Fullam, executive director of the East End Food Institute, the organization that took over operation of the Riverhead farmers market in 2019. - The search is on for a missing teen from Riverhead. Walter Alvarado-Cruz is described as a Hispanic male, 5 feet, 3 inches tall, weighing 115 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He is missing from Timothy Hill Children’s Ranch in Riverhead. Anyone with information as to the whereabouts of Walter Alvarado-Cruz is asked to please contact the Riverhead Town Police Department at 631-727-4500. (Riverhead Patch)
- Suffolk police said a hit-and-run crash seriously injured a male pedestrian in Mastic early Sunday morning. The incident took place on Mastic Road, just north of Cumberland Street, when he was struck at about 1:30 a.m. by a vehicle that sped away, according to police. Detectives are asking anyone with information on this crash to call the 7th Squad at 631-852-8752 or Crime Stoppers, a confidential police hotline, at 1-800-220-TIPS. (Patch)
- John Parente, a 63-year-old Brookhaven man was driving a 2007 Ford pickup truck westbound on Express Drive North when the vehicle left the road, struck a tree and overturned, Suffolk County Police said. The man was transported by ambulance to Stony Brook University Hospital where he is in critical condition. (Daily Voice)
