Riverhead Man Drove Drunk With 13-Year-Old In Car: Police

He was arrested in Riverhead on Saturday night, police say.

RIVERHEAD, NY — A Riverhead man was arrested and charged Saturday night after he drove while intoxicated with a 13-year-old in the car, police said.

According to Riverhead Town police, the incident took place at about 11:46 p.m. on East Main Street; an officer initiated a traffic stop when the driver of a 2012 Honda Accord was seen driving erratically, authorities said.

Alvaro I. Uyu Puluc, 31, was driving while intoxicated with the juvenile in his vehicle, police said. He was arrested and charged with aggravated DWI, Leandra's Law, a felony; and endangering the welfare of a child, police said.

He was held overnight to await morning arraignment, police said.
