Woman Pushed To The Ground, Forcibly Robbed, In LI Parking Lot: PD

He stole money from her pocket and tried to also steal her wallet, police say.

RIVERHEAD, NY — A woman was pushed to the ground and robbed in the Marshalls parking lot in Riverhead, police said.

According to Riverhead Town police, the incident took place on Tuesday at about 9:49 p.m.; a 911 call came in about the robbery, which took place in the parking lot on Old Country Road.

The woman told police that an unknown male forcibly pulled her to the ground in between two vehicles, removed $500 from her pants pocket, and tried to steal her wallet, authorities said.

A witness saw what had happened and verbally intervened, causing the thief to flee the area; he was headed south toward County Road 58, police said.

He was reportedly a light-skinned, younger male, of average build, wearing darker-colored hooded outerwear, police said.

Riverhead police patrol officers and K9 units canvassed the area, with no results, police said.
