Thank goodness it's Friday! The weekend is finally here, so as you plan out how you're spending it, let us tell you what's happening in and around the village so you can start your weekend off right.

1. A new candidate for mayor has thrown his hat into the political arena, but it may surprise you who it is. Find out today at 2 p.m.

4. If you got kids between the ages of 10-14 who want to have some fun on a Friday night, take them down to Hot Skates, the Merrick Road skate rink on the border of Lynbrook and Rockville Centre. From 7-9:30 p.m., kids skate for free! Adults are not allowed during the teen skate, though adult chaperones are permitted.
