Assisted Living Facility In Oceanside Gets Green Light From Town

The building being planned for Atlantic Avenue would also feature more than 80 apartments.

OCEANSIDE, NY — A senior facility is moving forward in Oceanside. The Town of Hempstead Industrial Development Agency has approved economic benefits for an assisted living space.

Proposed by Sunrise Senior Living, plans are to build an 84-unit facility on a vacant site at 374 Atlantic Ave.

The 77,433-square-foot building will have 34 one-bedroom/studios and 50 two-bedroom apartments. The complex would also feature 52 parking spaces.

"There is a strong need for assisted living facilities in Oceanside as well as
neighboring communities," Fred Parola, Industrial Development Agency CEO, said. "This project will allow older residents to remain in the community with their friends and families."

To that end, the facility would provide assisted living, memory care and coordination of hospice.

The $48 million project is expected to generate 150 construction industry jobs
and 55 full-time permanent jobs within two years of the project’s completion in
about a year, the IDA said.
