1 Hurt As Blaze Rips Through Long Island Home: Police

UPDATE: A man sustained injuries to his hands and face, Suffolk police said.

MASTIC, NY — A man was injured when a blaze broke out at a home in Mastic late Saturday night, Suffolk police said.

He sustained minor burns to his hands and face, according to a police spokeswoman.

It is not clear if he taken to a hospital for treatment.

Officers responded to a report of a house fire at a home on Southaven Avenue at around 10 p.m., police said.

The fire was one of two that Mastic firefighters responded to Saturday.

About a half hour earlier at 9:30 p.m. a fire broke out on Pineway Avenue.

No other information was immediately available from police.
