Long Island Couple Killed in Crash After Driver Blows Stop Sign
A husband and wife were killed and another person was injured in the crash Saturday night. A driver was arrested for fleeing the scene.

MASTIC BEACH, NY – A Long Island couple was killed after an SUV went through a stop sign and slammed into their car Saturday night in Mastic Beach. The driver of the SUV was arrested after he fled the scene, police said.
According to Suffolk Police, William Molnar was driving a 2004 Subaru east on Forest Road West when his car was struck by a 2006 Ford Explorer that was traveling south on Huguenot Drive at 10:11 p.m. Molnar, 50, had the right-of-way as there is a stop sign on Huguenot Drive at the intersection.
Molnar and his wife, 41-year-old Jean Molnar, a passenger in the front seat of the Subaru, both of Mastic Beach, were pronounced dead at the scene. A 22-year-old male passenger in the front seat of the Explorer was transported by Suffolk County Police helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the Explorer fled the scene on foot, police said. Following an investigation by Major Case Unit detectives, 24-year-old Patrick Poillon was arrested overnight in Mastic Beach.
Poillon, of Mastic Beach, was charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death. He was being held at the Seventh Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip Sunday morning.

Poillon was arrested in June 2017 on charges of driving with a suspended license and criminal trespass, according to court records.
