Lifeguards To Take Stands Next Two Weekends At Smith Point County Park
The summer season has been extended on weekends to ensure safety, county officials said.
SHIRLEY, NY – Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone is poised to announce an extended summer season at Smith Point County Park in Shirley on Thursday, officials said.
County beaches are not typically staffed with lifeguards past Labor Day, but this year lifeguards will stay on the stands for another two weekends to ensure it’s safe for residents and visitors to enjoy the park, according to a news release.
It’s not immediately clear if other county beaches will be staffed with lifeguards during the same period.
