Local Rotary Club Honors WFHS Student Of The Month
Senior Miranda Calderon was the "Robert Guerriero Rotary Student of the Month" for December.

The William Floyd School District recently welcomed members of the Rotary Club of Shirley and the Mastics to recognize William Floyd High School senior Miranda Calderon as the “Robert Guerriero Rotary Student of the Month” for December.

Miranda is described as a humble, hardworking and self-directed student, who is an AP scholar and student-athlete with the varsity swim team. Along with excelling in her academics, Miranda participates in various extra-curricular activities including the varsity swim team (White Letter Award recipient), the award-winning Youth & Government program, the Tri-M Music Honor Society, and serving as the historian for the National Honor Society. Miranda also volunteers her free time at Long Island Community Hospital and as an altar server at St. Jude RC Church in Mastic Beach.
This ceremony was attended by district and school officials, including Kevin M. Coster, superintendent of schools; Philip Scotto, principal, William Floyd High School; Viveca Nargi, chairperson, English Department; family members; and Rotary Club members Dr. Fred Miller and Dr. Paul Casciano.

The Robert Guerriero Student of the Month Award is named in honor of former Board of Education vice president Robert Guerriero and longtime Rotarian, who passed away in October 2022.
