Man Arrested In Fatal Beating Of Girlfriend On Long Island: Police

SHIRLEY, NY — Suffolk County Police today arrested a man in the fatal beating of his girlfriend in Shirley on Sunday, Suffolk police said Thursday.

Oscar Morocho-Morocho punched and kicked his girlfriend Ruth Marisel Parra-Martinez, repeatedly, outside of 30a The Green on Sunday at around 10:30 p.m., according to police.

The location has both an amusement center with roller skating and a Family Dollar, which were both closed at the time. An alleyway that runs between the building and an adjacent 7-Eleven on William Floyd Parkway.

It is not clear where the beating took place.

Parra Martinez, 34, died from her injuries and Morocho-Morocho called 911 and reported Parra Martinez had died, police said

An investigation by Homicide Squad detectives determined Morocho-Morocho killed Parra-Martinez. He was arrested on Sutphin Boulevard in Jamaica, Queens, at around 1:25 p.m. on Thursday, according to police.

Further details were not released.

Morocho-Morocho, who is 31 with no known address, was charged with first-degree manslaughter, police said.

He will be held overnight at the 3rd Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Friday.
