Boat In Mastic Beach Catches Fire; 1 Of Several Fires In Area Wednesday

Firefighters responded to fires in Mastic Beach, Shirley, Yaphank, and East Patchogue on Wednesday, police said.

MASTIC BEACH, NY — A boat caught fire in Mastic Beach Wednesday afternoon, Suffolk police said.

The fire was called into police at around 3:25 p.m., according to police.

Fire officials told News 12 that the fire could have resulted in more damage because of its close proximity to homes. In drone footage, smoke can be seen billowing into the sky.

The fire was one of several to break out in the area on Wednesday.

A stove fire broke out at around 4:40 p.m. at a home on Auborn Avenue in Shirley.

Around two hours later, police received a call about a fire in the woods off of Calloway Lane in Yaphank.

Earlier in the day at around 9 a.m., a fire broke out at a home on Circle Drive in East Patchogue.

It does not appear that anyone was injured during any of the incidents.
