Man Slashed In Face In Suffolk: Police
The person was treated for non-life-threatening injuries, cops say. It's the second violent incident involving an injury in 26 hours.
MASTIC BEACH, NY — A man was "slashed" in Mastic Beach — the second such incident within two days in the local area — on Thursday afternoon, Suffolk police said.
Two men acquainted with one another were involved in a physical fight inside of Handy Pantry on Neighborhood Road, "when one slashed the other in the face with a sharp object" just after 1 p.m., according to police.
The man was taken to Long Island Community Hospital in East Patchogue for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The suspect has not been taken into custody.
Seventh Squad detectives are continuing to investigate.

The slashing comes one day after a similar incident in Mastic.
A man was found stabbed on Coventry Avenue at around 3:15 p.m., and then he was taken to an area hospital for treatment of his injuries, according to police.
Police could not immediately say where the man was stabbed.
The location is under investigation, police said.
The stabbing comes six days after Alex Smith, the younger brother of boxer Joseph Smith, was shot and killed just down the road in a parking lot behind Linsa Torr's Place.
No arrests have been made.
