Fire Breaks Out At Mastic Beach Home: Police

It started inside of a fireplace and then spread into a wall, Suffolk police say.

MASTIC BEACH, NY — A fire broke out at a home in Mastic Beach on Saturday, drawing area firefighters, Suffolk police said.

It started at the Cypress Drive home inside of a fireplace and then spread into a wall at around 4:20 p.m., according to police.

The Mastic Beach Fire Department responded, police said.

It was not immediately clear if anyone was hurt.

The fire was one of two to break out locally on Saturday night.

The second fire, which started at a Holbrook home at around 5:30 p.m., is being investigated by Arson Squad detectives, police said.
