Shirley Man Indicted In Girlfriend's 'Brutal, Unconscionable' Beating: DA
Surveillance video from a local business captured him punching, kicking, and dragging her for about 25 minutes" before fleeing, DA says.
RIVERSIDE, NY — A Shirley man accused of beating his girlfriend to death has been indicted for manslaughter, Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney's office said Wednesday.
On the evening of May 7, Oscar Morocho-Morocho, 32, became angry with his girlfriend, Ruth Para-Martinez, and began "to publicly and violently beat her in a commercial area, prosecutors said, adding that surveillance video from a local business captured him punching, kicking, and dragging her for about 25 minutes" before fleeing.
The following morning at around 6 a.m., Para-Martinez was found dead by members of the police, in the same location where she was left beaten, according to prosecutors.

Tierney said,"no one deserves to suffer a violent death such as the one endured by the victim."
"The sheer brutality this defendant allegedly showed is unconscionable,” he said.
“We will seen justice for [Ruth] Para-Martinez and her family by aggressively prosecuting the defendant for this vicious crime."
Morocho-Morocho hit, slapped, and kicked Para-Martinez about the head and body for about 20 minutes, according to court court documents. He was arrested in Queens several days after the beating.
Morocho-Morocho was ordered held on $100,000 cash, or $1,000,000 bond during the pendency of the case. His next court date is scheduled on June 26.
