- A blaze broke at a home in Mastic Beach on Saturday. The fire occurred at a home on Maple Road. No one was injured in the fire, but there's a possibility of the death of the family's pet but authorities did not confirm that. Suffolk police are investigating the cause of the fire. - A Mastic couple, Fabian Diessler and Stella Maris Mayorga, opened a new eatery in Eastport. El Che Deli and Grocery serve the truck's signature steak, chicken, and pork dishes. Diessler has been a professional chef for a decade, working in Miami and Long Island restaurants. (GLI)
- On Jan. 17, the nation celebrated the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. King’s activism during the Civil Rights Movement of the 1950s and 1960s changed the lives of millions of people, and his assassination on Apr. 4, 1968, marked one of the darkest days in American history.
