  1. A man fatally lost control of his vehicle in Shirley. According to the police, 29-year-old Akeem Brothers was driving southbound on William Floyd Parkway in a Chevy Trailblazer when he lost control of the car on Dawn Drive. He crashed into a wooded area. Brothers was pronounced dead at the scene. (Shirley-Mastic Patch)
  2. An underage drinking sting operation in Shirley resulted in arrests. Police visited locations after community complaints about local stores selling alcohol to minors. Among the arrests are Vural Guleryuz of Shirley, an employee of Ocean gas station, located at 980 Montauk Highway, and James Cherette of Holtsville, an employee of Shirley Liquors, located at 427 William Floyd Parkway.
