- A man from Shirley resisted arrest and tried to steal a detective's gun during a struggle. Salvadore Paulette was facing charges for stealing electric wires from Home Depot. When detectives arrived to arrest him at a public parking lot, a struggle took place, and Salvadore was arrested when support officers arrived to help the detectives. (Shirley-Mastic Patch)
- The William Floyd High School Medical Club made a significant donation to the Child Life Department at Stony Brook Children's Hospital. The value of $1,235 will support the therapy, educational and recreational work the hospital has been offering to child patients. (Press Release Desk)
- New Netflix series starring Giancarlo Esposito is set to be filmed on Long Island. Brookhaven Town Councilman Neil Foley announced last week that production "Jigsaw" will have Corey Beach in Blue Point as the scenario. (Greater Long Island)
- A New York State Supreme Court judge has lifted Gov. Kathy Hochul's mask mandate but the decision was overturned and the mandate continues. Judge Thomas Rademaker said that mandate was made without the state legislature and Gov. Kathy Hochul has no emergency powers, however, Judge Robert Miller in New York City granted the state's request for a stay of a Long Island judge's ruling while the governor's administration pursues an appeal.
