  1. Patch previews this weekend's event in Patchogue: MoCA L.I.ghts' "Merry & Bright" is a special holiday projection light extravaganza that runs through Sunday. The show is 5 to 11 p.m. in downtown Patchogue Village. (Patch)
  2. Center Moriches has a weekend of holiday events too. Friday is the Chamber of Commerce of the Moriches Tree Lighting, 7 p.m. in the King Kullen Shopping Center. (Greater Moriches)
  3. Veronica Pezdan, a 28-year-old former Shoreham-Wading River High School teacher, pleaded guilty to having a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old male student. The Holbrook resident was a part-time mathematics teacher at the school, charged with third-degree rape. (Dan's Papers)
  4. Peggy Spellman Hoey has an update on injured Suffolk police officer Tim Thrane. On Thursday, he was released early from St. Charles Rehabilitation in Port Jefferson in time for Christmas. He's been recovering from critical injuries he sustained in a crash with an alleged drunk driver in November. (Patch)
