- A man from Shirley is accused of stealing nearly 50 catalytic converters from cars in Holtsville and Medford last month. Blaise Marckesano, 37, of Shirley and Jonathan Martinez, 31, of Manorville stole 49 catalytic converters from locations on Middle Avenue in Holtsville, and Long Island Avenue, Medford. The pair were charged accordingly. (Patch)
- Registrations are open for the Creative Writer's Workshop at MMS Public Library. Writing instructor, Anne Kelly-Edmunds, will help participants to unlock their passion for writing in this creative workshop that will be held on March 10 at 2 p.m. (MMSPL)
- GR8 Skates in Shirley will host a fundraiser event to honor owner Dawn Parrillo. Parrillo lost her battle with cancer on Oct. 7, 2021. All the profits raised in the event will be donated to “Mondays at Racince,” which is a foundation that provides proven mind-body-derived health, beauty, and wellness services to people undergoing treatment for any kind of cancer. - The Meatball Place in Patchogue will host a fundraiser to help the Homebound Vets organization. Long Island has 24,00 disabled veterans and activities such as going grocery shopping or cooking can be challenging at times. The money raised in the event will help the nonprofit Homebound Vets, which is an organization that cooks for LI vets. The Meatball Place is located at 52 West Main St. in Patchogue and the event will be held on March 10 from 6-9 p.m. (LI Advance)
- Nearby News: A 19th-century barn that is located at Old Field Farm is ready to become a Setauket history museum. The Three Village Historical Society plans to rebuild the barn in a project that will cost $1.3 million. The museum will be under construction at the society's North Country Road headquarters. The ground was broken Saturday, and the museum is planned to open next year. (Newsday/Subscription Required)
