  1. Alexandra Clougher, from Shirley, has been nominated for the U.S. Presidential Scholars Program. Clougher is a senior at William Floyd High School. She is one of only five New York State nominees in the Career and Technical Education (CTE) category for the U.S. Presidential Scholars Program, one of the nation’s highest honors for high school students.   2. MMS Public Library offers a support group for grandparents who are raising the grandchildren on their own. The community program, PASTA (Parenting A Second Time Around) support and resources, is for grandparents who are navigating the challenges of raising grandchildren or relatives.   3. Nearby News: A pedestrian was hit by a car in Medford. A man was fatally struck by a Honda on Tuesday night at the intersection of North Ocean and Masonic avenues. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at Patchogue Long Island Community Hospital, police said in a statement. Two of the Honda's passengers were taken for treatment of minor injuries; the driver, Daniel Avila-Canales, 26, of Medford, was not injured in the collision. The accident is under investigation.
