Man Shot, Seriously Injured In Mastic Beach Fight: Police

UPDATE: The 38-year-old was taken to a local hospital for treatment, Suffolk police said.

MASTIC BEACH, NY —A man was seriously injured in a shooting in a fight in Mastic Beach Thursday night, Suffolk police said.

Two men got into a fight at Track Gas Station on Neighborhood Road and one fired a gun into the sidewalk and then ran away before 7 p.m., according to Suffolk police.

The second man followed him to a location outside a home on Commack Road and the shooter then shot the man in the torso before bolting again, police said.

The 38-year-old man was taken to a local hospital for treatment of serious injuries, according to police.

The shooting was the third in the area this week.

A man was shot to death on Tuesday night on the Poospatuck Indian Reservation in Mastic.

Hours later, a home and vehicle were shot on Coventry Avenue.

Police are investigating whether the shootings are related.
