Vehicle Strikes House In Shirley On Saturday: Police

No one was hurt, Suffolk police say.

BROOKHAVEN TOWN, NY — A vehicle struck the side of a house in Shirley on Saturday afternoon, Suffolk police said.

A 30-year-old Mastic Beach woman was driving a 2007 Dodge northbound on Somerset Avenue when she swerved to avoid a second vehicle and her vehicle went through a fence, then struck the side of a house on Van Buren Street just after 1 p.m., according to police.

No one was hurt in the crash, police said.

That was not the only crash nearby on Saturday.

One person was hurt when their vehicle crashed on the eastbound Long Island Expressway in Medford, near Exit 63 at around 5:43 p.m., police said.

The person was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.
