William Paca Middle School eighth grader Alexandra Byrne is the William Floyd “Artist of the Month” for January! Alexandra has developed into a very talented student-artist in Jillian Santoro’s art class with a particular skillset in sketch work using markers and pencils to create incredible detail. When she isn’t showing off her art skills on an assigned project, Alexandra is drawing and coloring anime-styled characters in her sketchbook.

“Alexandra has raw talent and discipline when it comes to making her artwork,” said Ms. Santoro. “Her sketchbook is full of anime-styled figures that are incredibly detailed and dimensional. She has shown that she is able to step out of that rigid style to create realistic textures in her work with a variety of mediums.”

Alexandra’s source of inspiration came from when she was little, watching cartoons and being drawn in by the character’s unique designs. As she continues her journey into high school, she wants to continue challenging herself as a student and an artist, with hopes to one day pursue a career as an animator.
