Man Slashed In The Face On Subway In Soho, Police Say

A man was attacked on the subway early on Tuesday after he fell asleep and woke to a man trying to rob him, police said.

SOHO, NY — A man was slashed in the face during an early-morning subway ride on Tuesday, police said.

An NYPD spokesman said a 25-year-old man was riding a southbound E train on Tuesday when he fell asleep. The man woke at about 4:45 a.m. to another man trying to rob him near the Spring Street station in Soho, police said.

The two began to struggle before the would-be robber attacked him, according to authorities.

The unidentified knifeman ran from the subway station and has not been arrested, police said.

The 25-year-old was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
