BCSD: 'Unprecedented' Contracts Mean Full-Day Kindergarten and More

Officials are slated to provide details during a press conference Monday.

The bleak picture Brewster Central Schools officials presented early in the budget season for the 2013-2014 academic year has been replaced with one that includes full-day kindergarten, some restored modified sports and the full restoration of the Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps program.

The district announced the news Friday afternoon, noting that "unprecedented contract settlements with the Brewster Teachers Association (BTA)  and the Administrators Association of Brewster (AAB)" include:

  • BTA pay and step freeze
  • AAB concessions
  • Restoration of some proposed reductions in personnel
  • Implementation of full-day kindergarten
  • Full restoration of the NJROTC program
  • Class size reduction in C.V. Starr Intermediate School
  • Restoration of several modified sports programs

More information is expected to be released during a press conference Monday.
