BREWSTER, NY — After a two-year analysis of the district’s facilities and its needs, the Brewster school district will be given proposals for a capital improvement project.

The district’s Board of Education will hear from Fuller & D’Angelo Architects & Planners and Triton Construction at its meeting Tuesday.

The capital project will address high priority infrastructure and safety/security needs for students and staff in the district.

“The proposal supports the Brewster Vision 2026 Strategic Planning objective of a dynamic learning environment that is safe and allows for optimal learning conditions and opportunities to develop individual strengths that lead to post-secondary success,” said Superintendent Dr. Laurie Bandlow.

Board President Kerry Cunningham said the district’s goal is to ensure that a meaningful and appropriate learning experience for every student at all grade levels is provided.

“With the community’s support, our present financial situation allows us to consider how best to improve and expand our facilities to match our ongoing commitment to maintaining appropriate class sizes, and to provide a variety of improved spaces,” she said.

District officials said all community members should learn more about the projects under consideration as the board begins to prioritize the final scope of the capital improvement project bond to be presented to voters for a March 21 referendum.

The first of several presentations and forums begins at the Tuesday Board of Education meeting, starting at 6:30 p.m. at the District Offices, located at 30 Farm To Market Road. Alternatively, upcoming presentations can be viewed via live stream on the district’s website.

The board plans to adopt a final proposition at its Jan. 24 meeting.

The district will share more details and answer all questions through a variety of settings in the coming weeks. For more information and updates, please continue to visit the Facilities Planning Task Force website.
