Carmel Man Faces DWI Charge

A 49-year-old Carmel man is facing a misdemeanor charge of driving while intoxicated following a recent car accident in Southeast, officials say.

Troopers from the East Fishkill barracks arrested David M. Baviello at about 7:10 a.m. Tuesday.

"...His car slid off the ramp from Interstate 684 northbound to Interstate 84 westbound [in Southeast]," State police said. "The vehicle subsequently sustained an engine fire."

Baviello reportedly refused to submit to a breath test. He was released pending an April 9 appearance in Southeast Justice Court.
