Police: Fatal Crash Claims Carmel Man
The other driver sustained lacerations to the head.
A 77-year-old Carmel resident died as a result of injuries suffered in an accident on Route 6 in Carmel earlier this week, officials say.
The crash occurred at about 12:50 p.m. Wednesday, with John Finlay behind the wheel of a 2004 Oldsmobile, attempting to make a left on Route 6 from Belden Road, Carmel Police Chief Mike Johnson said. His vehicle was struck by a 2012 Nissan traveling on Route 6. A 61-year-old Carmel woman was driving.
Both airbags deployed. Finlay was taken by Carmel Ambulance to Putnam Hospital Center, where he was pronounced dead. First-responders performed CPR on the way.

The other driver, who had to be extricated from the vehicle, was transported to Danbury Hospital in Danbury, CT by Lake Carmel Ambulance. She sustained lacerations to the head but was conscious.
Police are continuing to investigate the accident. They believe Finlay failed to yield right of way to the approaching Nissan.

Following the crash, the road was closed for about two hours.
