Mahopac Man Charged with DWI on Sprain Brook Parkway

Driver stopped by state troopers for traffic violation, not using headlights.

A Mahopac man stopped for a traffic violations  — including driving without his headlights on — early this morning on the Sprain Brook Parkway was charged with drunken driving, according to State Police.

Daniel Ivezaj, 42, was stopped on the northbound parkway in Yonkers at 2:30 a.m. for making an unsafe lane change, crossing onto pavement warning markers and for not using his headlights, police said. As a result, he was charged with driving while intoxicated.

During their investigation, police said they found the car he was driving was not registered and it was not inspected. Also, police said Ivezaj refused to take a chemical breath test for alcohol.

Ivezaj was later released pending a Sept. 21 hearing in Yonkers City Court.
