Mike Woods Brings Weather Lesson to Brewster
Meteorology, he told youngsters, involves a range of subjects, including communications, geography, math and science.
More than 40 Brewster students at C.V. Starr Intermediate School met Good Day New York's Mike Woods Wednesday.
Arranged by fourth-grade teacher Frank LaMorte, the visit was a surprise for the students. They learned about Woods 20-year career—from the very start of his interest in weather, as a child in California wondering when it would rain, to college internships to his first job in a small, North Carolina market—and talked about data gathering and the water cycle.
Woods also stressed that his job is one that involves a range of subjects: communications, geography, math, science and more.
